Wanda Salter
Speech & Language Pathologist
I was born in Rhode Island but moved to Vermont at the age of three. My parents and grandparents (on both sides) were born in Vermont so I believe I qualify as a "real Vermonter." I was raised in East Arlington and graduated from Arlington Memorial High School. I completed undergraduate studies in Anthropology and Linguistics from McGill University and hold master's degrees in Teaching English as a Second Language from St. Michael's College, and Communication Science and Disorders from the University of Vermont. I have served as a public school speech-language pathologist in grades K-12 and provided augmentative communication consultation throughout northern New England. I have also maintained a private practice, administering assessments and providing consultation in school and hospital
settings in Vermont and New Hampshire since 1996. In addition to clinical/educational practice, I have co-authored several speech-language assessments and instructional programs published by LinguiSystems.
My favorite parts of my job at CAES are diagnostic assessments and developing instructional programs for children on the speech-language caseload. I find I learn something new from children almost every day!
I live in Saxtons River with my husband, a database administrator, and our two children, Alice and Timothy. My hobbies include reading, camping, canoeing, travel, sewing, and Scrabble. (I am also a no-longer-in-the-closet American Idol fan!)
