Transforming an established science unit into PBL
Through inquiry, communication, and place based research, students in Cavendish have been spending this month analyzing the health of the Black River. Their work, done in short field trips, classroom investigations and blog discussions, will be reported and published in a variety of media forms to at least three relevant organizations. This workshop will reveal the process of posing a question, providing"mini lessons", guidelines and allowing students to take over the ownership of their work. This project is done with a depth of knowledge of 4.
Our time together will bring you up to date on their ongoing work, with time for discussion on how to take something you already do and make it project based.
