Scott Gray
Principal
Hello! It's very nice to be a part of the Chester-Andover School Community. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. Education is a second career for me. Prior to becoming an educator, I worked at many different things in my life, from working on a dairy farm to running my own business. All these vocations have broadened my knowledge of the world around us. As a school principal I draw from these experiences daily when making decisions.
My educational philosophy has been driven by these life experiences as well. I am deeply devoted to family and of course to children. Decisions that affect our children need to be based upon data and that data can come from many areas. The end result of our decisions in education must be viewed through a lens that insures a positive student outcome.
On a personal level, I am married (to a teacher!) have 4 children of my own and 2 step-children. I love camping, fishing, hiking, and trap shooting. I have sailed a 38' yacht through the British Virgin Islands, built miles of stonewalls in Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont, and slept at the base of Arenal in Costa Rica, the 4th most active volcano in the world! My wife and I are certified in wilderness first aid and dream of starting a children's environmental camp in the wilderness of Maine where we have been spending our summers lately.
I look forward to getting to know you and your families. I am always happy to chat with you so that we can learn more about each other. Feel free to stop into the school and say hello, enjoy a cup of coffee, and share your thoughts with me. Once again, I am thrilled to be a part of the Chester-Andover community.
"Keep me away from the wisdom which does not cry, the philosophy that does not laugh, and the greatness that does not bow before children." Kahlil Gibran
