Welcome to my 3/4 multi-age classroom. This year is sure to be a great one! I am looking forward to teaching in a multi-age classroom again and I am excited to meet my incoming class. This site provides information for both parents as well as students. There are a variety of curricular links for the students to use during school, as well as from home.

What will we be learning?
Language Arts
I want students to love to read and be read to. This year we will explore a variety of genres, hoping to capture the varied interests of third and fourth grade kids. We will be using the Houghton Mifflin series in conjunction with novel based studies and readings.
Fourth graders have the opportunity to vote for the DCF book award at the end of the year and some of the books.
We will spend great time working on the structures of writing and how to write to inform as well as write a standard five-paragraph essay. Along with writing to inform, students will enjoy the creative opportunities of narrative writing.
Math
We use the EveryDay Math program
I will be teaching the 4th grade unit and Mrs. Ferro will be teaching the 3rd grade unit
Topics in fourth grade include: multiplication and division of multi-digit numbers using the partial product and partial quotient algorithms. There is a heavy emphasis on fractions and measurement as well. Graphing and interpretation of data will be important and well as algebra.
