Chester-Andover Elementary School

Hi! I’m Mrs. McCarthy, I am one of the Second Grade teachers here at Chester-Andover Elementary School. This is my fourth year teaching second grade at CAES. I will be starting the school year on Nov. 3rd as I am currently on maternity leave. I am very excited to have Mrs. Fonseca taking over the classroom while I am out and I look forward to starting soon. Prior to teaching second grade at CAES I taught special education here and I enjoyed it tremendously and I am now thoroughly enjoying teaching second grade! Before my move to Vermont I taught both regular education and special education in Massachusetts for three years. I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education as well as Special Education and a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instructional Technology. I enjoy teaching in a way that encourages individual and group creativity and expression. I hope to give my students an exciting and adventurous year that will leave them with a thirst for knowledge that is never-ending.

When school is out I enjoy spending time with my husband, Matt, and my two sons Dylan and Kaiden. Dylan is 4 years old and Kaiden was just born on Aug. 6th. We have two wonderful animals as well. A 2 year old boxer named Trey and a 3 year old cat named Bubba. My husband and I enjoy taking Dylan and Kaiden on many adventures, which frequently include lots of sporting events like Red Sox baseball games!!! In the summer we enjoy spending lots of time outdoors enjoying the sun.
