Art
I am very excited to be joining the Chester-Andover teaching staff as the new Art teacher. The strong sense of community and dedication to learning that was evident to me as a parent continues to impress me as I join in the teaching process. The staff, parents, and especially the children, have welcomed me warmly and their support has provided for a very smooth transition.
I received my BA from Potsdam College in New York with a concentration in painting and attained my teaching certification through St. Lawrence University. I have taught Art for 19 years, most recently at Flood Book Union School in Londonderry. While employed there, I completed my masterís degree in Liberal Studies in conjunction with the University of Albany.
I strongly believe that Art is an essential component of a childís education. My program incorporates a sequential skill-based method of instruction focusing on the elements and principles of art. Opportunities are provided for students to experiment with a variety of stimulating methods and materials. My curriculum is also rich in exposure to developmentally appropriate Art History and Appreciation units of study. My goal is to instill in students a love of art and confidence in their own expressive abilities.
I live in Chester with my husband and 2 children. I enjoy reading, cooking, painting, taking long walks and spending time with my family outside in this beautiful area in which we are so lucky to live.
