I have been a School-Based counselor at Chester-Andover from Healthcare and Rehabilitation Services (HCRS) since January 2007.  Before coming to the school I have been a Child and Family Therapist at an elementary school, a high school and at a doctor's office.  My Master's degree is in Psychology.  I also teach Psychology classes to college students including Introduction to Psychology, Educational Psychology, Child Development, and Infant and Toddler Development.

Becky Plunkard
Special Programs Coordinator

My name is Becky Plunkard.   I have the best job in the world working with awesome kids, wonderful parents,  and a sensational staff,  in a fantastic community at the greatest school in the world.   I am the Special Events Coordinator which means that I plan and coordinate all sorts of “events” here at CAES.  I help with School Years Eve at the beginning of school, graduation at the end and everything in between.

I live in Cavendish, have two sons who live in Oregon and Alaska and become a grandmother now which means I am packing pictures so watch out.

I  run the CAES mentor program, an on campus afterschool program where an adult and a student are matched in a one on one relationship.  The mentors and mentees meet once a week,  to play a board game, some basketball, do magic tricks, read, play musical instruments, cook or just talk.   It is such a wonderful experience for both parties.  We are always looking for people that would like to be mentors.   It really does change a person’s life both yours and someone elses.   Consider having a lot of fun and also making a difference.  Give me a call.

I put together after school enrichment programs like the homework club, or sessions like construction, spanish, or art classes for 1st and 2nd graders.  We are always interested in having people come in and instruct. If you have a talent or idea, lets get together and talk.

I coordinate people that would like to volunteer in our school.  Our school is better because of our volunteers.  We are always looking for adults to read with and to kids that need some extra help.  We really love having community members, parents and older students help in classrooms, out on recess, and share their talents with our kids.  We are always open new and creative ideas so let us know how you can help at CAES.

I am the advisor for the Respect Club, a community service club for 4th 5th and 6th graders.   The Respect Club is a student driven program that helps with all sorts of projects in our school, town, state and around the world.  Kids prove over and over that age doesn't stop you from making a difference.  It has been a very successful program winning the Governors Award for Community Service three years.  The kids have alot of fun while learning about different cultures, problems in the world and in their community.  They gain self esteem, and a true respect for others.

I am absolutely frog crazy.   My school “pad” is being taken over by my amphibious friends.  When asked why I like them my answer was people think frogs are ugly, slimy and give you warts. I have always rooted for the underdog.

Come visit CAES, it really is a wonderful school,  you will see, I am right.
